Wedding Planning 101

“There are no better teachers than the ones who truly love what they do and are willing to share their passion and knowledge with you.”

Become an incredible Wedding Planner with the insight, confidence, and knowledge needed to make the most of this wonderful career.

NEXT TERM: April 9, 2018

DreamGroup Wedding Planning + Design offers a truly unique and valuable perspective into the world of weddings with our Wedding Planning 101 Course.  Learn firsthand from the Founding Planner of Vancouver’s busiest and most reputable wedding planning company, Geneve McNally, what it takes to not just be a wedding planner, but be an incredible planner.  This course is unlike any of the typical informational college programs being offered in Vancouver.  Its purpose is not to educate Vancouver wedding planner wannabes by the hundreds, but rather to enlighten and inspire the career minded individual who is looking to set themselves apart and make the most of this exciting and fulfilling career.

Currently, there is no barrier to entry in becoming a wedding planner and as a result there are many people that have perhaps planned their own wedding or that of a friend or family member and found it to be “so much fun” that they decided to become a wedding planner.  It sounds harmless, and even though the untrained planner’s intention is a good one, the problem is that without formal training they really have no idea what the job actually entails or what they are expected to do.  As a result they provide their clients with a sub par level of care and direction negatively affecting the potential of the planning journey and end result.  It just can’t be as good as it could have been with more insight and a better understanding of the role of a planner.

The DreamGroup Wedding Academy came about because of our desire to positively affect the impression people have of the value and importance of involving an expert in the planning of a wedding.  The job of a wedding planner has changed greatly over the past decade and a couple’s expectations and needs are not what they used to be.  It’s not just about flowers, place cards and hair and makeup anymore.  It’s not about being a directory and simply knowing where to find great and talented people.  It’s about understanding your client’s priorities and expectations and helping them maximize their vision and budget in the savviest way possible.  It involves understanding the psychology of brides and all the tasks and decisions that need to be addressed and how best to approach them.  It’s knowing how to lead your clients and educate them in a way that allows them to make comfortable and confident decisions when spending more money on one day than they will ever likely spend again.

So, if your desire is to become, not just a wedding planner, but a truly GREAT wedding planner, then this is the course for you.  Not only learn “the basics” as taught in other planning courses, but be privy to a wealth of detailed advice, insight, and direction from Vancouver’s leading wedding planning company.  Learn from the inside out what it takes to succeed as a planner in this modern day.

This course runs every Monday evening from 6:30pm-9:00pm (see below for dates); plus the Field Trip date (often held on a Wednesday pending student’s schedules which we will try our best to accommodate).

“Hi Geneve,

I just wanted to thank you for the opportunity you communicated with us about volunteering at the BCWA’s. It was so awesome to see the industry right in front of my eyes! All these people I’ve come to know through class and my research were right in front of me. It was hard not to get star struck. The overwhelming realization came and it almost knocked me over, that I am learning from the best of the industry!

Just wanted to share my ‘Aha’ moment with you. And thanks again.”
